Our Team.
Meet the team that leads the Voice. We are made up of former participants who are passionate about the program's goals and, through lived experience, guide and lead our participating youth.
Ammy Purcell has been with the Voice since 2002. Starting out as a participant, Ammy progressed through supporting roles in programming and facilitation, and now runs The Voice as the Executive Director, with the invaluable assistance of Brandy Warman, the current Program Facilitator, and adult volunteer Shauna Crane.
We can't wait to meet you!
Executive Director
Former Youth Participant
Member since 2002
Ammy joined The Voice as a writer during the program’s second year in 2001 and has contributed to every issue since. Over the years, she has served in a variety of roles, from writer to board member, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to the organization and its mission.
Because The Voice has always held a special place in her heart, the Facilitator-in-Training position was created to allow her to remain actively involved while developing her leadership skills. She subsequently advanced to Program Director and now serves as Executive Director.
With nearly 25 years of dedication to The Voice, Ammy is the organization’s longest-serving contributor.
Program Facilitator
Former Youth Participant
Member since 2018
Brandy joined The Voice as a writer in 2017 and has been an active contributor ever since. Her dedication to the program led her to become a Facilitator-in-Training while still in high school, where she began developing the leadership skills that would shape her future role.
Now a student at Mount Saint Vincent University, studying Sociology and Child and Youth Studies, Brandy serves as a Program Facilitator. Drawing on The Voice’s curriculum while incorporating her own fresh ideas and perspectives, she creates engaging sessions that resonate with participants and help keep the program dynamic and relevant.
Adult Volunteer
Former Youth Participant
Member since 2014
Shauna first participated in The Voice as a teen in 2012 and returned a decade later as an adult volunteer in 2022. Having always viewed The Voice as a safe, welcoming, and accepting space, she was eager to give back to a program that had such a meaningful impact on her life.
Currently studying Therapeutic Recreation at Dalhousie University, Shauna brings her growing knowledge and skills to our weekly sessions by helping to plan activities and develop engaging session ideas. Her unique perspective as both a former participant and volunteer makes her a valued member of the team.
